‘ALL SOULS DAY’ – SHOULD YOU PRAY FOR THE DEPARTED DEAD?
If you were a Roman Catholic or have had Catholic friends you know that come November they observe what they call an “All Soul’s day! On this day they will visit the graves of their loved ones and decorate them with flowers and candles and offer prayers for their dead! Those who can afford it will even pay for a Mass to be celebrated on behalf of their departed loved one.
Lately many ‘protestants’ too have been following the Roman Catholics in this. Here in the East you can find even the ‘Protestant’ graveyards bustling with activity; with graves decorated and the ‘faithful’ offering prayers for their departed.
How scriptural is all this, and from where does this practice come from?
‘All Soul’s Day’ is a demonic festival based on the doctrine of demons!
“The celebration is based on the doctrine that the souls of the faithful which at death have not been cleansed from venial sins, or have not atoned for past transgressions, cannot attain the beatific vision, and that they may be helped to do so by prayer and by the sacrifice of the mass”. [Wikipedia]
The Catholic teaching that the prayers of the living can help the dead is unscriptural. Not once did any of the Bible prophets or Apostles pray for the dead. Jesus never taught us to pray for the dead. The Word of God couldn’t be any more clear that once we breathe our last breath, our eternal destiny is forever sealed!
Catholics teach that certain of their members who die in their “venial” sins will go to Purgatory; but the Word of God teaches something entirely different … “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” [Heb 9:27]. And again – “”But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” [Romans 4:5] If you have believed upon Christ, then God has imputed Christ’s righteousness to your record, and your sins to His. In fact, Romans 4:6 states … “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.”
So why would such a blessed man go to suffer in Purgatory? Do you see how much the Catholic Church has LIED to Catholics. The Bible is clear, either you are a total heathen, or you have Christ’s righteousness in spite of your present sins!
There are NO Scriptures teaching a place called “Purgatory.” Purgatory is a man-made doctrine, first introduced by Gregory the Great in 593 A.D. Billions of souls have become victims of the woeful beast of Roman Catholicism. People ignorantly are worshiping Satan in the name of religion. As we learn in 1st Corinthians 10:20, there is a demon behind all idol worship.
You can pray ’til you’re blue in the face; but it won’t help your departed loved ones at all. You can give all your money to the Church; but it’s too late for your loved ones if they died in their sins without Christ as Savior. There is absolutely NOTHING anyone can do to benefit those suffering in Hell. This is clearly evidenced by the account given in Luke 16:19-31 of the rich man who went to Hell. Jesus didn’t say that this was a parable, as He always did when He spoke parables. Also, unlike His parables, Jesus used SPECIFIC names in this account (i.e., Abraham and Lazarus).
The rich man was in torment, and begged Abraham to send Lazarus from the dead to warn his five brothers. Abraham makes a startling statement by saying, “And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” In other words, if people won’t listen to the Word of God, then nothing will convince them.
The Roman Catholic Religion is the ‘Road to Hell’ and many are sincerely walking on that road! I was one of them, until God came and saved me and showed me the truth. And the reason I post these things is because I love the Roman Catholics and don’t want to see them wind up in Hell!
If you are a Roman Catholic reading this, remember the Jesus you worship in the Catholic Church is not the Jesus of the Bible. The Catholic Jesus is ‘another Jesus’ who cannot save you. You want to be saved? Come out of the Roman Catholic Church and put your faith in the real Lord Jesus who can save you from your sins!
What must I do to be saved?
Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and Thou shall be saved!
