May the Lord comfort the grieving loved ones of the Pals family.

Last Sunday morning, at around 11:30, an entire family entered heaven together.

Jamison and Kathryne Pals and their small children were driving from Minneapolis to Colorado for final preparations as missionaries to Japan. They planned to leave in October. But in an interstate construction zone in western Nebraska, a semi truck rear-ended the family’s vehicle.

Tragically, the entire family died at the scene, including Jamison and Kathryne, both 29, and their three young children, 3-year-old Ezra, 23-month-old Violet, and 2-month-old Calvin.

The 53-year-old trucker was arrested and charged with five counts of felony motor vehicle homicide.

Today, the faith and obedience of Jamison and Kathryne Pals was celebrated at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis.

God always does that which is right! God does not do a thing because it is right but the thing is right because God does it! Some things like the calling of the Pals family to glory so abruptly we shall never understand on this side of Heaven. But someday soon we shall understand God’s wisdom in this and say with the men of Jesus’ day – “HE has done all things well!” [Mark 7:37] May the good Lord comfort all those involved with the Pals’ family and assuage their grief. In Jesus’ name Amen!

If there be a moral in all this, it is that our lives are so uncertain. No matter what our age might be or how healthy and ‘well set’ we may be there is no telling as to WHEN we might be called to meet our Maker! For those who are fairly young maybe even in their teens who maybe reading this please live your lives in the light of your appointment with your Maker! Say not to yourselves as did the rich man in our Lord’s parable – “I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.” Because the word God said to him may have already been said concerning YOU! “Thou fool, THIS NIGHT thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?” [Luke 12:16-21]

“Prepare to meet thy God!” [Amos 4:12]
