PROOF READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU SEND SOMETHING OUT
Yes, in many things patience is a virtue, but especially so while sending out ‘text messages’.
Always double check your text before hitting the send button. We have all seen some tragic auto-correct mishaps that can easily be avoided by taking two seconds to proofread.
Make sure to verify WHO you are sending your text to. You wouldn’t want your boss to receive a message from you that reads – “I want you! I need you! I can’t be without you baby!” . . . which was meant for your spouse!
Also, don’t use text slang unless you REALLY KNOW what it means in the texting world. I knew someone who thought LOL stood for “lots of love” rather than “laugh out loud,” so when he repeatedly texted LOL to his friend whose father had died, you can imagine the friend’s dismay.
And here’s a good tip – if it’s more than just a simple ‘Thank you’ or ‘God bless you’ that you’re texting, i.e. if you’re going to type out a paragraph or two then type that message first on a ‘note-taking app’ (there are plenty available) then slowly and carefully proof-read it and then copy and paste the same in your text box and hit send.
There are two reasons for this – one it keeps you out of the risk of accidentally pressing the send button before you’re done, and two it helps you to carefully double check your messages before sending them out.
Remember de ol’ adage – Better safe than sorry!
