“The LORD thy God doth bare thee, as a man doth bear his son”! [Duet 1:31]

If you were trying to cross a busy intersection with a toddler, would you ask him to hold your hand and lead him across?

NO, especially if he was a toddler you wouldn’t even hold HIS hand to lead him across!

You would do what every sane parent would do – you would pick him up and carry him across!

Oh what a word is that –

“And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place”! [Duet 1:31]

And let me tell you, that I am where I am today because HE carried me ALL THIS WAY!

Now you may think to yourself, “What a humiliating thing to say! Where is your ‘will-power’? Where is your fighting spirit? Where is your macho manhood and determination, etc”?

Beloved, I ain’t got none of those things! I am a lame man who can’t even walk unless God holds my hand! In some families at least one child is born a little weak and sometimes even lame. God’s family is like that too. There are those with ‘great faith’ who can ‘move mountains’ and others with ‘little faith’ who can barely walk for the most part . . . . but then there are a few with faith only as small as a grain of mustard seed! I happen to be one of those.

For the few folks like me in God’s great household, God’s got to do it all. We have been born lame that we can’t even walk, let alone ‘run the race as others’.
But our heavenly Father does not leave us behind because we are lame. His heart is melted for us, yea even touched with the feeling of our infirmities, and so He carries us all the way!

As John Newton once penned in that immortal hymn –

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.
Hallelujah! Praise His Name!
