THE HUMAN BODY – GOD’S GREAT MASTERPIECE

THE HUMAN BODY – GOD’S GREAT MASTERPIECE

KNOW YE THAT THE LORD HE IS GOD: IT IS HE THAT HATH MADE US, AND NOT WE OURSELVES! [PSALM 100:3]

The human body is a marvelous machine that is fearfully and wonderfully made. King David declared this in Psalm 139:14. “I will praise Thee: for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

Some amazing facts about the human body :

There is over 10 billion cells in your body. These cells are very complex structures that make up our brain, bones, muscles, skin, eyes, blood and many other organs. Take the human eye for instance, it is just one four-thousandth of the adults weight and yet gives us 80% of the information that we need. The eye contains 130 million rod-shaped cells that detect light intensity and transmit visual impulses to the brain via some one million nerve fibers while nearly six million cone-shaped cells do the same job, but respond specifically to color variation. The eyes can handle 500,000 messages simultaneously.

Next, there is the heart in the human body. It is not much bigger than a clenched fist and weighs 10-11 ounces. It beats automatically about 100,000 times a day and over 2,500 million times in the average life span. The heart pumps blood through the body’s 80,000 miles of blood vessels at a rate which means that every day the blood cells travel an accumulated distance of 168 million miles, equivalent to 6,720 times the earth’s circumference. Speaking of the blood, a single drop contains 250 million separate blood cells. Truly, the Bible is correct about the life of man is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11,14).

Our brain contains a hundred billion neurons. Over an eighty year life time the human brain processes ten terabytes of data. Somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 inputs from other neurons will converge on each individual brain cell.

The ear is so marvelous that when an air wave moves one millionth of a second across the eardrum, that movement is immediately translated into intelligible sounds by processes involving 30,000 nerve endings in an area a fraction of an inch long.

Speaking of both the ear and the eye, Proverbs 20:12 says, “The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made both of them.”

And again – “Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I the LORD?” [Ex 4:11]

The human brain has an estimated storage capacity of 256 exabytes (or 256 billion gigs), the equivalent of 1.2 billion average PC hard drives, enough CDs to make a stack which would reach beyond the moon and 15 libraries for every person on the planet.

“I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well!” [Psalm 139:14]

And the number Seven being the number attributed to God’s perfection, God hath left His mark in the created human being!

Think of it, life operates in a cycle of SEVENS. Changes take place in the body every SEVEN years. There are SEVEN bones in the neck, SEVEN bones in the face, SEVEN bones in the ankle, and SEVEN holes in the head. Most births are multiple of SEVENS. The hen sits three weeks (21 days); the pigeon two weeks (14 days); after having laid eggs for two weeks. Of 129 species of Mammalia (sic) the majority have a period from conception to birth of an exact number of weeks, a multiple of SEVEN.

Human physiology is constructed on a law of SEVENS. Children are born to mothers in a certain number of weeks usually 280 days, a multiple of SEVENS. Fevers and intermittent attacks of gout, ague, and similar complaints have a period of operation of SEVEN, FOURTEEN or TWENTY-ONE days knows as critical days. And so we can go on . . . .

The Fool hath said in his heart, No God!” [Psalm 14:1]
